Pottery vessels from the first century have been discovered in Qumran along with the Dead Sea Scrolls. While each vessel performed various duties as needed, it has been documented that some of these vessels were used for the storage of scripture, others for accumulating of tithes, and still others for the storage of food, grains and other valuables. All purpose jars as this, stored items that didn’t need to be sealed and have been found regularly in the caves of the desert. The side tab points were solid rather than hollowed and were used for a variety of purposes.
You can now enjoy decorating your home, church or temple with reproductions that are made of the same materials, and in the same way, as were those vessels of old from the Holy Land.
